Capsules, tablets, chewable tablets, and powder for oral suspension formulations of Amoxil contain the main component amoxicillin – a semisynthetic antibiotic, similar to ampicillin.
The capsules and Amoxil oral suspension dosage form are for oral administration.
Capsules contain 500mg of amoxicillin in a form of trihydrate and inert components- D&C Red No. 28, FD&C Blue No.1, FD&C Red No. 40, gelatin, magnesium stearate and titanium dioxide.
Each 5 mL of reconstructed oral suspension formulation of the drug contains 250mg or 400mg of amoxicillin as the trihydrate. Other ingredient is 0.15mEq (3.36mg) of sodium (for 250 mg) and0.19mEq (4.33 mg) of sodium (for 400 mg).
Amoxil is available in the form of drops for oral suspension for pediatric usage. Each mL of reconstituted suspension contains 50 mg of amoxicillin in the form of trihydrate and 0.03 mEq (0.69 mg) of sodium as an inert component.

Method of application
Amoxil is for oral use only. It can be used with or without food. Doctors recommend using it with food if a patient has stomach irrigation or other problems related to use of Amoxil on an empty stomach. The tablets, capsules are to be swallowed as whole with water. Chewing tabs are to be chewed before swallowing.
